Servo Press Integration for Automotive Assembly

Application Solution · Typical Configuration. This page illustrates how NEFEIT could evaluate an electric cylinder or servo press for a controlled assembly operation. It is not a report of a delivered customer project or validated production result.

Application Background

An automotive machine builder may need to insert, seat or press a component within a defined motion envelope. Electric actuation makes a programmable stroke and feedback architecture possible when the entire machine is engineered for the load case.

Technical Requirements and Constraints

Define the part and tooling geometry, required force versus travel, approach and working speeds, cycle rate, available mounting space, off-axis loads, ambient conditions, process data needs and safe stop behavior. These inputs determine whether an electric cylinder is appropriate.

Selection Basis

Select the actuator architecture only after calculating continuous and peak force, stroke, velocity and acceleration, cycle duty, screw life under the actual load profile, and any external guide requirement. Compare inline and folded-back packaging against the machine envelope. NEFEIT must confirm model data and acceptance criteria for each inquiry.

Electric Cylinder and Control Concept

A typical arrangement combines an electric cylinder, compatible servo motor and drive, position feedback, external guidance where needed, and PLC logic for the machine sequence. Force monitoring requires an appropriate sensor and calibrated acquisition path; its presence and performance must be confirmed for the proposed build.

Installation and Integration

Align the cylinder axis to the tooling load path. Verify bearing and mounting reactions, cable routing, end-of-stroke protection, guarding and emergency-stop behavior. Commission the motion limits and fault response with the machine integrator before production use.

Evidence and Results

No customer identity, acceptance report, measured cycle time, force accuracy or production outcome has been supplied for this example. A project-specific result should be published only after NEFEIT provides documentation and permission to use it.
